Schedule

Get ready
What to bring: Nothing is required. If you have a photo ID, please bring it.
Eating, sleep, and medication: Keep your routine normal. Get a normal night's sleep, eat as you usually would, and take any prescribed medication as directed. Don't use alcohol or non-prescribed drugs before your exam.
Time: Plan for 1½ to 3 hours, and please don't schedule anything tight afterward.

Arrive and sign in
When you arrive, you'll sign a consent form. Payment is due at the start of your appointment, before the pre-test begins. We accept cash, card, Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle.
The exam is voluntary, and you can end it at any time. Payment is not refunded if you choose to end the exam early.

Talk it through
The examiner explains how the polygraph works and goes over every question you'll be asked. You'll know every question before testing begins. Ask anything you like.

The test
Sensors are placed on your chest, arm, and fingers to record breathing, pulse, and skin response. You sit still and answer the questions you already reviewed.

After the exam
Results go only to the people involved in your case. For post-conviction exams, the written report goes to your supervising officer and treatment provider within 3–5 business days. For attorney-arranged exams, results go to your attorney; for private exams, to the person who arranged the exam.

Before your exam
Can you guarantee the results?
No examiner can ethically guarantee an outcome. What we guarantee is a fair, standardized process, conducted the same way for every examinee.
How long does an exam take?
Plan for 1½ to 3 hours. Every exam includes a thorough pre-test interview, and the length depends on what needs to be discussed. Please don't schedule anything tight afterward.
Can I eat, sleep, or take my medication beforehand?

What should I bring?

I'm really nervous. Will that make me fail?
Almost everyone is nervous, and that's expected. Nervousness alone doesn't cause a failed result. You'll know every question before testing begins, so there are no surprises.
Can someone come with me?
You're welcome to bring someone, but they'll wait outside the exam room. The exam itself is one-on-one.

Will I know the questions ahead of time?
Yes. You'll know every question before testing begins. We'll go over each one together. There are no trick or surprise questions.
Can I stop the exam?
Yes. The exam is voluntary, and you can end it at any time. Payment is collected at the start of your appointment, before the pre-test begins, and is not refunded if you choose to end the exam early.
Is the exam recorded?
Yes. Exams are recorded, and recordings are kept confidential. They are not shared with anyone unless required by law.
After the exam
When will I get my results?
Written reports are completed within 3 to 5 business days and sent only to the people authorized to receive them.

Legal and cost
Can my employer make me take a polygraph?
Federal law limits most private employers from requiring polygraph exams. Law enforcement agencies, government employers, and certain security-related businesses are exceptions. If you're unsure, book a free consultation.
